From Stage to Screen

Best known as a Broadway musical, Fiddler on the Roof has been delighting audiences for almost half a century with its blend of boisterous and mournful melodies. The Tony award winning story of Tevye, the humble milkman with five young daughters and a feisty wife, has played out thousands of times on the stages of Broadway, London’s West End and in theatres all around the world.

With such a popular stage play it was inevitable that a movie version would be made and in 1971

I arrived in a quaint village in the French countryside and checked into a charming villa arranged by my travel agent.

Once I was settled, I made my way out to the balcony. It seemed to be floating on the beautiful fields of lavender and provided a scope of a wide expanse of vineyards in the distance.

I had already decided that all I wanted to do on this vacation was spend my mornings at a local café reading a book, sipping a frothy cappuccino (with two shots of cinnamon sprinkled on top) and eat

Keeping Your Home Safe When You Travel

I travel a lot which means I'm away from home and it also means that I think about home safety and security.  I have a few things that I do but I'm always on the prowl for tips and useful information on keeping my home safe.  I live in a condominium and recently received a notice under my door that our building had two break ins.  Both break-ins occurred when the home owners were out of town.  This means that someone must have known they weren't home.  You couldn't get any closer to home than th

The B&B industry is out to bust some myths, and are taking advantage of the election-year thinking to do it. With a totally tongue-in-cheek approach, it’s poking fun at the very symbol that has haunted them for years: the doily.

According to research conducted by the Professional Association of Innkeepers International(PAII) in conjunction with TripAdvisor, only about 12-percent of travelers on average choose to stay in B&Bs.
Anyone who has never tried a B&B tends to think that  B&Bs are the sa

The histories of every land of the world begin with legends. But, how many of them, do you think, have been able to reserve them in massive books and keep them inside museums? Ethiopia is one among the few to keep what some call legend (as Ethiopians believe that it is no legend but history) in great books reserved inside the National Museum at the very center of the capital city. Why don’t you come and figure out how legend and history have come to be friends and foes at the same time? To hel

Custom Artisan Cereal with reddish goji fruit

Cereal makes a terrific breakfast especially when it contains a tasty combination of grains, nuts and fruit. For foodies or those going organic, I found a custom artisanal cereal company with a fantastic product line-up: me and goji.

What's goji?  A Tibetan superfruit from the Himalayas  that's packed with dizzying amounts of nutrients and phytochemicals; a fruit with a mild, tangy taste that is slightly sweet and sour.

I was prepared to be impressed. The innkeeper, E. Scot Fuller, is a chef, so the breakfast part I was quite sure would be outstanding.
