At an art gallery in Eden Prairie, Minnesota about 1995, there was a painting that caught my eye, that would lead me to a magical place in Norway many years later. Passionate about the cruise industry, I have been on over 300 cruises around the world and have even worked on the ships as a Cruise Director and Entertainer. Today, as a Cruise Industry Journalist, I set out to find creative and fascinating cruises and itineraries that will be of interest to the listeners of my talk show and viewers

A veteran of the restaurant world, Anthony Bourdain was largely unknown until the publication of his 1999 New Yorker exposé, Don’t Eat Before Reading This, which formed the basis for his best-selling book, Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. Bourdain has since emerged as the bad boy rock star of the foodie world, releasing critically acclaimed

Photography is often about moments which make unique photos that can't be replicated, not with the same person in them, not with the same light, or the same mood. A famous building or monument is not a moment in itself - it's merely a context anyone with a camera can capture. The following are three shots from my latest trip to London when, a couple of children, fascinated by a group of pigeons sheltering behind the National Gallery, spent a lively 15 minutes chasing them up and down the pavemen

Thanksgiving in New York!

This year for me was a little different - I was working out at JFK, dropping off some British travelers for the flight back home, when I was asked by a friend to meet her at the balloon blow-up on Central Park
West. Wow - I've not had the chance before, so ... let me see if I
could make it.

But the E train wasn't working and I had to walk through the proverbial strange neighborhood at night to get to the F - I could imagine how some could be scared! And, you know what? The city
could do better about

Travel Marvel of South India: Vellore

When any South Indian hears the word “Vellore”, he can think of two things immediately – one is Vellore Jail and another is Vellore Fort. Vellore Fort is very popular in South India, as it is very rare to find forts and palaces in South India. Vellore Fort is one of the largest forts among those very few forts of South India. It is located near Chennai city on the Chennai-Bangalore route.

Inside the gigantic Vellore Fort, there are a lot of government buildings, museums, Churches, and mosques. Ho

Just as astrology can identify, say, business and romantic opportunities or challenges, those celestial bodies slinking about the stars can help pinpoint optimal times and places for travel. And since destinations have their own astro-charts, which interact with yours, astrology can even serve as a kind of spiritual travel agent. It can tell you, for example, about places likely to be harmonious or challenging matches for your temperament, personality, and current astrological indications. Check

When it comes to sunny, water-surrounded getaways in Europe, for lots of us the Med pops right to mind — Spain’s Balearics, Sardinia, Cyprus, the Greek and Croatian isles, and so forth. But hundreds of miles out in the Atlantic from the Straits of Gilbraltar lie Madeira and the Azores, part of Portugal, which some Europeans (particularly the Brits) have taken a shine to over the generations, for various reasons starting with mild year-round temperatures — thanks to the Gulf Stream, they generall

Why We Are Sexier On The Road

We knew travel was a terrific aphrodisiac, we just couldn’t prove it.

Then came a report that the majority of couples have more sex in a week’s vacation than they do in two months at home!

We knew there’s actually a Mile High Club with certain airlines offering sex in the sky for those seeking membership in this lofty club. We did an “expose” on the topic on Technorati Travel .

And we did short video at TVP, Travel As An Aphrodisiac that makes the poin

Curry Snapper From St. Barts' Tony Hotel Toiny

by Tripatini staff

So is St. Barthélemy in fact the coolest island in the Caribbean? Hard to say, but it sure does attract a lot of models, movie stars, and music types (hey, isn’t that dude in the Ray-Bans whatsisname?). Many of them stay at the Hotel Le Toiny, an all-suite/villa hideaway with 15 pastel bungalows equipped with major-league “Do Not Disturb” signs. But even if a star isn’t staying at this luxurious Relais & Chateaux property, you can be sure the entourage will be dining at Le Toin

Color me still underwhelmed by much of the South Beach dining scene lots of flash, but frankly longer on attitude than substance. Having said that, in recent years things have started to evolve a bit in good ways. Nonetheless, when last weekend I strolled for the first time into Eden South Beach, an eatery opened at the end of October in the space once occupied by longtime local culinary darling Talula, let's just say my expectations were less than stratospheric.

The space was bought on August

Five-Year Travel Plans

Five Year Travel Plans

Like anything in life these days, priorities need to be set and plans need to be put in place.

I have recently been asking my clients what their Five Year Travel Plan is. Many can tell me right away and in order where they want to go and what is next to cross off the bucket list. Others can’t imagine knowing where they are going to be next weekend.

So here is why I believe setting Five Year Travel Plan will be to your advantage.

I am a big believer in the “Secret” and if you w

Rooms with a View in Tuscany

Driving up the Tuscan mountain was like being on an amusement park ride...a mixture of fear and exhilaration, as I maneuvered treacherous hairpin curves and dodged speedy Italian drivers coming towards me. The road ended at the top of the mountain, in a village called Coreglia Antelminelli. I was spellbound.

The entrance to the village is through a large stone arch, and the cobblestone roads are for foot traffic only. I followed the stone lane into the piazza and walked alla destra, alla sinistra

Video Inn Review: Union Street Inn, Nantucket

From NMT Images
Please watch the Video Review at the end of this post

You could almost miss the Union St. Inn blending as it does with the many shingled houses that line the streets of old Nantucket village.

But that would be your loss.

It’s one one of the most celebrated inns on Nantucket with praises from major travel press.

But, its very modesty, its lack of puffed up pretensions that make it special. It doesn’t feel like a much like a "praised place."

Behind the brass knocker the 1770 B&B manages

Beyond Santa Fe, New Mexico Towns That Totally Rock

by Karen Tina Harrison

New Mexico takes its nickname, the Roadrunner State, from its official bird. But it’s also true that straight, fast roads make the USA’s fifth-largest state pretty easy to run around in. I’ve visited more than 20 times in 13 years, and its legendary capital Santa Fe, an hour north of Albuquerque airport, hasn’t lost its allure, with its heady cultural brew of Spanish colonial, New Age, Native American, and Wild West. But I’m just as jazzed about exploring the many small tow
