eye_care_foods_lady-vi.jpg?width=180Ten years ago, Moses Znaimer renamed the baby boomer generation into the 'Zoomers' to celebrate how they stay active in their retirement years. Five years ago someone got the bright idea to wrap a trade show around the notion and last weekend, October 27, 28 of 2012, the Zoomershow was hosted at the Direct Energy Building at Exhibition Place . The organizers use the mantra, 'If it's hot and it's important, and if it can benefit people age 45+, then it’s welcome at the Zoomershow!

Hershey, Pennsylvania is called the “Sweetest Place on Earth” so it is only fitting that it has the sweetest spa.  The spa features a variety of chocolate-infused treatments in honor of our rich chocolate history. Sink into a frothy Whipped Cocoa Bath, relax in the warm cocoon of their Chocolate Fondue Wrap, and inhale the rich chocolate aromas that put a twist on traditional spa treatments such as the Cocoa Facial Experience and the Cocoa Massage. And there is more, chocolate and non-chocolate

Cruising Egypt's Nile

A first time visitor to Egypt who wants a classical (pharaonic antiquities) experience would do well to book a Nile cruise. Of course modern airlines shuttle tourists to the southern region of Egypt, but historically the Nile cruise was really the only way to visit the temples and tombs located along this stretch of the river. It is still a popular means of visiting upper Egypt and has many advantages to other means of travel.

First of all, it is very nice to unpack once and have your hotel trave

You can’t blame travel suppliers and companies for their myopia.  For all too many years they’ve had a Pavlovian response to their brands: promote them, and get around to taking care of customers later.

Or maybe never.

In spite of all the brouhaha that suggested social media is the way to connect with and service customers, the facts speak differently, according to Hotelmarketing.com.

They report that 62% of customers are looking for more support through social media. But, brand reputation an

When the coffee mill is roasting in my little town in Costa Rica, you can smell the aroma throughout our hills and valleys. The sweet, pungent fragrance entices you to a steaming cup or two in the morning, and following tradition, another at 3 p.m. When I first moved to this small Central American land, I was puzzled by how it seemed the entire country stops at 3 pm for its cafecito”. After nearly 11 years of living here, I find the local custom lovely, and follow it quite strictly rain or shin

Friendship and Destiny in Taiwan

2012-10-20-16.24.18-300x225.jpg?profile=RESIZE_930x

Today I left Taiwan. For three weeks I was there, taking each day one by one. The reason was a wedding - a reason I turned into an an opportunity to turn this trip to Asia into something far greater.

It was my second time to Taiwan - a fact that never ceased to amaze Taiwanese. But in reality it was I who never ceased to be amazed by the Taiwanese people, who by the end of the three weeks, left me wondering, "have I ever felt this welcome in a country before?"

The wedding was a fun and also com

!cid_image003_jpg@01CD6B40.jpgI have been going to the World Travel Market since 2007, and this year’s WTM, in my opinion, is going to be the most interesting yet, and the event that I have always looked forward to the most is the World Responsible Tourism Day.

The difference from 5 years ago is noticeable. The awards event, on the Wednesday, has blossomed into a glamorous display of candid debates, exciting nominations and inspirational stories. The competition has grown in leaps and bounds, the judges have become fiercer i

Biloxi, Mississippi and the Beau Rivage

9008736696?profile=original

It was a bittersweet moment to book my recent trip to the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi. As a long time travel industry employee who had not been to this area in years I was thrilled to not only have an opportunity to assess the recent damage from Hurricane Isaac in September 2012 but also to experience a new destination. The reason for my choice of destination was my son’s first deployment with the army to Afghanistan and his impending departure. So, off to Biloxi I go… I booked my trip wi

This weekend the port city of Limón kicked off its annual Carnival festivities, a 12-day Caribbean street party celebrating the kaleidoscope of cultures on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast.

Carnival is a huge Caribbean street party every October in Limon, Costa Rica

The famous party commemorates Christopher Columbus’ historic arrival to Costa Rica’s coconut-fringed Caribbean coast in 1502. Visitors will come from all over for the 2012 “Carnaval del Caribe” (Caribbean Carnival) that starts off this year on Oct. 11 and lasts through Oct. 22. Colorful parades, Caribbean cuisine,

When you think of travel to Bulgaria, what comes to mind first? For me, one of the cool things about visiting this fetching little Balkan country is its touches of exoticism, part of an ancient cultural heritage that stretches back to 5,000 BC, and which I find most noticeable in its Eastern Orthodox churches. As with church architecture in Russia, here you’ll find plenty of onion domes, but in Bulgaria you’ll also spot features you won’t find in Russia, such as arches influenced by Islam (not

Frequent Flyers Should Not Board First

This year, United dropped its practice of allowing families to board planes before other travelers. The legacy carrier joined the ranks of American and US Airways, which don't officially offer pre-boarding or early boarding of any kind for families. But a handful of other airlines still do, including Delta (the last legacy airline supporting family-friendly boarding), JetBlue, and Southwest.

The industry's approach to boarding is mixed, as is, ostensibly, popular opinion.  In a recent poll of mor

You have got to go here...BCFerries - British Columbia, Canada.

Now this blog may throw you off a little bit as I want to encourage you to do something as opposed to just going somewhere.  You must ride on the BCFerries system!

I know a lot of people who have taken a ferry from Seattle to Victoria, B.C., but not a lot who have experienced the spectacular ride from Victoria to Vancouver, or to other Southern Gulf Islands in Canada - I am here to tell you it is a must do!

Connecticut's Mohegan Sun Brewfest Debut

Autumn is harvest season and that means tons of festivals across the world marking the occasion. Food, wine, and of course beer are all fair game. I was extremely psyched to attend Mohegan Sun’s First Annual Brewfest and have my pick of sampling over 100 different brands. I quickly discovered that not only a ton of local breweries were spreading good cheer but some established giants offered up some obscure seasonal offerings as well. Here are some I’ll be hunting down and looking forward to tas

Curry Goes Global in London

9008736689?profile=original

Hundreds of curry lovers, food experts and restaurant owners from across the world gathered in London for a gala ceremony to recognise the talents of chefs, the unsung heroes of the kitchen. The awards are the brainchild of Syed Nahas Pasha and his brother, Syed Belal Ahmed, who run Curry Life magazine regarded as the authoritative voice of an estimated 10,000 Indian and Bangladeshi restaurants, take-away and associated businesses in Britain.  Nahas Pasha explained what makes the Curry Life awa
