Tired of Traveling With Ugly People?

9008698079?profile=original

No, this doesn’t come from us, but from someone who Tweeted about a new travel-dating site called, Misstravel.com
It’s pretty much a travel dating site...with plenty of innuendo.
The explanatory video asks are you attractive, love to travel, but don’t have the money?

It then explains that there are plenty of wealthy types (all men) like doctors, athletes, bankers, executives and other well-heeled guys who don’t want to travel alone.

To be launched April 24th, the site brings the two groups toge

What To Do If You Can't Afford An Overseas Trip?

As I just finished a major historical fiction novel and, after a year of readers critiques and editing I've just turned it over to a professional editor for the final run-through before submitting.  (The novel is titled 'SHADOW OF THE LION', set in Babylon, Asia Minor and Greece after Alexander the Great's death in 323 BC).  The novel itself was a long, long journey. And now the editing/publishing part is the last long haul.

Thing is, it costs to have a professional editor fine-tune you work, s

Gay-Friendly Rosario, Argentina

9008685260?profile=original

By Roy Heale

Rosario is a radiant city on the move with a tolerant and gay-friendly population. The city is nestled in a gentle twist of the mighty Paraná River about 300 km northwest of the city of Buenos Aires. Due to this close proximity to the Capital City, it is often overlooked as a potential gay vacation destination by first time LGBT travelers to Argentina.

However, Rosario freely displays its natural ‘water-world’ of the Upper Delta with its magic islands covered by lush vegetation and

This is something I wrote for The Travel Doc:

While traveling cross-country a few times last year, I experienced something I suspect that a lot of travelers out there can relate to. All of the travel pillows I tried were more uncomfortable than not wearing one at all.

I tried numerous travel pillows, and more often than not, I would arrive tired and with a sore neck that would last for hours or even days. My head and neck just weren’t being supported properly.

A little research helped me iden

Gay-Friendly Argentina?

9008679859?profile=original

Not surprisingly, when any country or territory takes the bold step to legalize same-sex marriages the business community subsequently decides it is acceptable to adopt a gay positive attitude. Such was the case in other countries like Canada following the 2005 Same-Sex Marriage Act and it now appears to be the circumstance in Argentina since the passing of the new law in 2010.

While this is a positive outcome of gay marriage there are also some precautions for the LGBT community to observe. Wh

Why Is Hotel Web Content so Boring?

9008664080?profile=originalWhy Is Hotel Web Content so Boring?

There was an interesting round table  discussion recently sponsored by visual content management powerhouse, VFM Leonardo  .

The basic question the panel was asked to consider was this: Why is hotel web site content so boring, and how can it be made more engaging for the traveler?

It so happens, that the initial  stage in travel decisions is the all-important  “Planning Stage,” the tipping point, so to speak.

So if content is almost exclusively transactional and

9/11 and Travel, Ten Years On

9008652064?profile=originalOn the lovely morning of September 11, 2001, I was working as usual in my 7th Avenue Manhattan office as executive editor of Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel, when thanks to somebody over on the publishing side with a dinky in-office TV came word that a plane had hit the north tower of the World Trade Center. As we sat there increasingly nervous yet numbed, trying to continue to work with one eye on the news, one editorial assistant admitted to me at one point, "people here are scared, they don't

Skiing in France for Less

Skiing on the cheap has always been a serious challenge. When we start booking your holiday and calculate the prices for accommodation, flights, equipment and lift passes, you may well start to wonder whether all this is seriously worthwhile. However,  if you are prepared to make your own travel arrangements, cut the accommodation expenses in half by renting a self-catered ski accommodation, shop around, avoid eating out three times a day and stay in the lesser-known resort, you can still get fa

It’s pretty official.

A  comprehensive White Paper produced by Cornell University School of Hotel Management,  reported that “women have become the fastest growing segment of business travelers in the United States.”

In data from 2010, women accounted for nearly half of all business travelers  in the United States, up a huge 43% from 2003.

But what they want from their travels, especially their hotel stays, is very different from what men want.

T-Minus 51 Days

January 26th 2009, 03:01

Perhaps unusually, I’m beginning my travelogue from my desk at home. Having told everyone our plans for the next year (top three comments so far: “That’s going to test the friendship”; “Don’t get pregnant”; “What if I die?” Thanks for that, Mum), and after all the calls made and emails sent to travel agents, and having attended nearly all of Alex’s leaving dos, as far as I’m concerned, we’ve already started. We’ve even come up with a departure date: 1st February.

Are You Flying a Mean Airline?

Are You Flying a Mean Airline?

It’s great that the airlines made money last year, all except American Airlines that is.

And according the recently released 2011 Airline Quality Rating (AQR) report, the experience of flying has improved too.

The AQR  is a touted as a “premier statistical study of major airline performances in the United States” conducted by a Wichita State and Purdue University professor.

Still, outrageous baggage fees, elimination of food and other creature comforts, numerous add-
