Beaches and wheelchair don’t usually mix. It’s very hard to get a 300 pound, electric wheelchair to move once it’s stuck in the sand. Some beaches have concrete or wooden ramps to the high-tide line but after that, you’re on your own. This small island (9 x 12 miles) well off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, has lost none of its magic.
Late fall Nantucket is a perfect time to visit this storied island, far from summer's "madding crowds," and very much how she really is without the exc

I’m in Scotland for business and today is Halloween. When I arrived here, I wasn’t sure if Halloween is celebrated in the UK or not. Oh yes … and for much longer than it’s been celebrated in North America.
A bit of history:

We had the superior room with a white and red theme. Latin lovers are world renowned for their passion and intimate love affairs. Perhaps the most famous of these romantic couples was Juan Domingo Peron and Maria Eva Duarte de Peron---more commonly known as Evita. But prior to this historic coupling the 20th President of Argentina, Maximo Marcelo Torcuato de Alvear, met with a stellar Portuguese opera singer, Regina Pacini, whereupon another great love affair began. The latter couple is less renowned globally but equally immortalized i

If Vasco do Gama, Magellan and Henry the Navigator fortified themselves with Port, Portugal’s most famous product, it might have made their journeys less horrific.
But Port wasn’t created until the 17th century, and today it’s undergoing a renaissance.
This easy-going, southern European country produced navigational giants that dominated the sea routes of the world, and controlled colonies as diverse as Brazil and Angola.
