Formed at the convergence of the famous Mekong and Kahn rivers in Laos, the town of Luang Prabang is the archetypal product of when colonial and traditional architecture collide. Groomed in pristine fashion, one would think he is the first to discover this exotic landscape.

Palm trees line the riverside, as the spires of divine stupas protrude through the trees, and all while in the company of Buddha’s servants.

Above ground level, the views will take your breath away as the landscape proudly show

Luxury Hotels and Resorts in Vietnam

9008619875?profile=original

Vietnam offers a variety of luxury hotels, resorts, and villas. In my last post, I profiled some of my favorite accommodations. Here are three more wonderful places to stay, including a tropical beach resort, an exotic island retreat with a great spa, and an historic hotel that feels more French than Vietnamese:

Evason Ana Mandara, Nha Trang

Ana Mandara means “beautiful home for the guest,” which makes it the perfect name for this deluxe beach resort. At one end of the property a large infinity po

Five Fantastic Sights in Gdansk
spacer
photoToday Margaret, one of our popular and highly-regarded Polish guides, tells us a bit about the best spots to visit in her lovely hometown of Gdansk.

Gdansk is a romantic and historic waterside city in the Baltic Sea area. It is a city-on-the-water with a beautiful old town and a modern feel. You can shop for amber or antiques along the river, stop for a seafood lunch at any one of its many restaurants

Halong Bay has been declared a UNESCO World heritage site and it really deserves the designation. It is one of the most exciting unusual places I have been to in my life.

Halong Bay -Halong meaning “Descending Dragon”- is named after the thousands of island with bizarre rock formations and limestone cliffs that are within the Gulf of Tonkin, in the north shores of Vietnam. It is composed of more than 3000 islands of all shapes and forms, covered in green vegetation and protruding from the ocean’s

“B&B  Kick Gas”  Campaign Drives More Visitors to B&Bs

After paying $4.45 a gallon for gas in Connecticut, the idea of  $6/gallon prices before the end of the summer seems more probable than possible, not withstanding recent subtle trends downward.

And this, according to Marti Mayne, B&B marketing guru, is making travelers very anxious about their summer vacation plans.

Mayne is the coordinator for the Better Way To Stay  campaign, sponsored by the Professional Association of Innkeepers Internation

Stalking the Best Gelato in Miami

Gelato. For some, it's an obsession. For me, the word "cult" comes to mind. Now, before you go thinking I'm nuttier than pistachio, let me explain. It all started with my first trip to Italy back in 1987, where I learned that all I thought I knew about ice cream had been a lie. I still remember the moment of epiphany: standing at dusk outside a small gelateria artigianale in the town of Mariano Comense north of Milan, near Lake Como, with a local friend who subsequently gave up the pleasures of
