Stop Slamming The Single Traveler

Why should a single traveler have to pay the same price that a couple pays for a hotel room?

A room price is almost always based on “Double Occupancy,” the travel industry standard.

The recent announcement that AMI, parent company of “The National Enquirer,” had declared bankruptcy, struck me in a different way than it might have struck you. Because I once worked there. Yes, it’s true. I admit it. For two weeks, many years ago, I worked at “The National Enquirer.”

My story started in a raging blizzard that tied up the whole Northeast. We had three feet of snow n Hartford, CT. I was looking out the window at the blizzard that night, while talking on the phone with my younger

I am always amazed how a country so rich in history, culture and the arts and neighboring the USA, is a country that few in the USA even know about other than a beach vacation with margaritas in hand. Apart from the fantastic climate which is the lure for many, Mexico has a fascinating history that spans 5,000 years, and no, I am not talking about the Aztecs who were late-comers to the scene.

At the time of the Golden Age of Greece, Mexico was thriving culturally with mega cities that had develop

Hiking The Hocking Hills Of Ohio

Why Ohio?

Because the southeast part of the state, an hour or so from Columbus, Hocking Hills, Ohio, is nothing like any impression I had of the Buckeye State.

It's rolling hillocks and swaths of wheat covered fields dotted with sad eyed cows and very happy horses, running more or less free in the many open paddocks and ranges.

It's a simple part of America, with little pretense but

This hotel is aptly named, in a small street (“rue de l’arbre sec”) near the Rue de Rivoli, the hotel-restaurant “Konfidentiel” is hard to find. This jewel is different than anything I could find in Paris in terms of hotels. Many words can be used to define it: luxury, unusual, charming, intriguing. The Konfidentiel has 6 suites, all referring to French history, but shhh!!! I did not tell you more I leave it to experience for yourself. The restaurant will dazzle with its complex simplicity ... a m

The day before yesterday I was in Chiang Mai. A 90 minute flight on Air Asia took me to Bangkok for one night. At five a.m. I was on my way to the airport to catch a 7 hour flight to Doha on a Qatar Air T
