“I used to call them the spoiled brats of the internet,” one Cairo woman confessed. “Now I kiss their feet,” she said, referring to young men who broke the Egyptians long record of endurance under a dictatorial regime.

Today, the seventh day of the revolt against President Mubarak and for democracy in Egypt, 2 million people are said protesting in Cairo. Some have estimated 8 million nationwide; that’s 10% of the population and that, technically speaking, is a revolution.

Jaisalmer and Its Golden Fort

Jaisalmer Fort ( Jaisalmer )

There is a fort that seems to rise out of a desert haze, its yellow sandstone walls and Jaisalmer Fortbastions taking on a golden hue in the afternoon sun, which is why it is aptly called Sonar Kila or the Golden Fort or Jaisalmer Fort. Jaisalmer Fort was built in 1156. It is the second oldest in Rajasthan Tourism after Chittor and the fort built by Rawal Jaisal, which crowns the 80m high Trikuta Hill. Three strong walls protect the citadel.the fort has 99 bastions ar

Bhutan, Land of the Buddha

On the two-day journey from a town near Trashigang to Thimpu, which she had seen only on television, Karma felt numb with fear. She barely noticed Bhutan's pastoral beauty as the road wound through mist-clad passes, descending into idyllic valleys peppered by patchworks of rice paddy fields.

Her eyes fill up with tears at the sight of hundreds of fluttering prayer flags - it reminds her of a ritual for which her mother had saved every ngultrum (Bhutanese currency) she earned. "We trekked the whol

Valentine’s Day is approaching – a day that women who are not in a relationship, and want to be, really do not look forward to. Add in frequent travel to the equation and many of these women send me pleas of, “How do I find someone when I’m traveling all the time?”

So I asked professional relationship coaches, online dating gurus and other women travelers for their advice.

Joyce Morley, Ed.D. of doctorjoyce.com starts off with a great point of it being “imperative that traveling professional busin

My Favorite Tastings at Sun Wine Fest 2011

9008591462?profile=originalThis past weekend’s Sun Wine Fest at Connecticut's Mohegan Sun Casino was a bonanza of top chefs demonstrating their skills on stage to packed audiences, a surprising variety of beer & liquor tastings, and of course a vast treasure trove of wine sampling. My strategy for this 2-day event was to spend Saturday roaming at will without an itinerary. I wanted to give myself the “kid-in-the-candy shop” experience first and then get more focused on specific brands on Sunday. This turned out to be smar

New York Steps into the Limelight (Again)

A NEW YORK LANDMARK CHURCH REOPENS

By Denise Mattia

If you were in New York in the 80’s you’re likely to remember the Limelight nightclub, on Sixth Avenue and 20th Street. The 19th century Gothic Revival church formerly the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, had undergone several metamorphoses, and now has become the chic Limelight Marketplace, New York’s Festival of Shops.

Built in 1846, the small yet radical church was one of the first in New York to have weekly communion services. In 1852

New Innkeepers Use Social Media To Attract New Guests

In the highly individualistic culture of the Bed and Breakfast business, Tim and Amy Brady are fast becoming the "go to" couple for B and B owners and operators eager to gain access to the powers of social media marketing, and improving the guest experiences in the process.

The 30 something, very cool  couple are decidedly not what one thinks of when one th

A Dirt-Road Motorcycle Adventure in Brazil

Dirt road motorcycle adventure in Brazil

I came to Brazil to start organizing adventurous motorcycle tours, so I needed to get out there and explore. This is the story of how a casual afternoon ride turned into a two day adventure…

End of may 2009 I set out with my brand new Yamaha XT660R, and ended up entering a 4x4 trail that would take me from the BR155 (the road from Barra Mansa - Volta Redonda to Angra dos Reis) to Bananal crossing the Serra da Bocaina, which is part of the “Serra do Mar”, a

Housing developments and ribbons of asphalt have replaced groves and farms and consumed open space and habitat for flora and fauna alike, but there arestill  some preserves - quite literally refuges - that have become as rare as precious jewels, and seem to be all but hidden even to the residents who live nearby. It comes as a stunning surprise to most people living amid the sprawl of development that you can have the adventure of exploring the Evergl
