The new Delta Economy Comfort isn’t anything that great! Sure it’s a few more inches of leg room but other than that it is absolutely nothing to write home about. Other Airlines have had “plus” style seating for years. This includes Jet Blue, United, Virgin America, and a number of international airlines. Some airlines only have these plus seats in the bulkhead or exit rows, whereas other airlines like Jetblue and United reserve several rows in the first rows of economy for these “plus” seats.

There's a new discount airline in town. PEOPLExpress recently announced plans to begin service in 2012, making its base of operations at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport in Virginia. According to a press release on the airline's website, the carrier will serve cities including Pittsburgh, Providence, West Palm Beach, and Newark.
Does the name ring a bell? PEOPLExpress may sound familiar to travelers no longer in their twenties. The discount airline was plying the skies in the 1980s
Ever since Southwest acquired AirTran in 2010, the two airlines have been slowly meshing into one mega discount carrier. There have been some adjustments, including route-map alterations and the demise of AirTran's business class. Now in a squarely consumer-friendly move, AirTran will adopt Southwest's "Bags Fly Free" policy of allowing passengers to check up to two pieces of luggage at no cost. One of these days.
While no exact date has been announced, changes are definitely brewing in the bag-f
The invitation came via an innocent e.mail from a source I did not know.
Swiss International Airlines, a 10-year-old carrier that had succeeded the bankrupt SwissAir, was inviting me to join a small group of American journalists on a four-night trip that would include one night on the plane and three in Swiss hotels.
With fading memories of my only previous press trip to Switzerland, I jumped at the chance, joining two women and one other man in an adventure so full that it seemed at least a week
Patrick Smith’s column, Ask the Pilot is almost always an acerbic look at the airline industry with its many foibles and Alice in Wonderland rules and regulations.
But the regular contributor to Salon, the award-winning online news site, also provides helpful insights into basic questions such as: Are Pilots Ever Afraid of Crashing or what do all those bells mean during a flight. Human stuff that’s reassuring and informative.
Recently he took the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
Occupy Business Class!
After more hours than I care to count sitting in the cookie cutter seats in economy class, I was pleasantly surprised today when Qatar airlines upgraded my wife and me to Business Class. I have not flown Business Class since I stopped working and an employer was buying my ticket. I had forgotten how much better it is to spend 7 hours in a fully reclining seat with incredibly good food and service beyond the pale.
The seat not only spread out to a flat bed, it vibrated.
The fl
I admit that low cost carriers are boon to people who travel on a tight budget, whenever I travel abroad I look for low cost airlines availability first, I have flown with two major low cost carriers in the Southaast Asian region, But hospitality takes a beating when you fly with low cost carriers, from booking ticket to getting a bottle of water they make us shell out extra monies, even if you are ready to pay for something you like the from menu, The typical reply you get from the hostess
Flying the Family Unfriendly Airports
Crying kids, stressed parents and unhappy families may not be exactly typical of families flying from our nation’s airports, but the scene is all too familiar.
And it’s not the families’ faults.
Skyscanner, the flight comparison site, asked 1000 family travelers what they thought about their airports, and, unsurprisingly, about two-thirds said airports are not family-friendly places, lacking facilities for families and doing nothing that caters to their needs
Are You Flying a Mean Airline?
It’s great that the airlines made money last year, all except American Airlines that is.
And according the recently released 2011 Airline Quality Rating (AQR) report, the experience of flying has improved too.
The AQR is a touted as a “premier statistical study of major airline performances in the United States” conducted by a Wichita State and Purdue University professor.
Still, outrageous baggage fees, elimination of food and other creature comforts, numerous add-
Help for the Lost Luggage Disaster
According to Cheapflights.com The Department of Transportation says only 0.005% of bags are lost.
But that’s not counting delays in repatriating passengers with their luggage.
The Cheapflights' site has some helpful information if it’s your bag that happens to be lost or delayed somewhere.
But you know, many of us who fly frequently are so vexed at the baggage fees, that using a luggage forwarding system is not only a kind of sweet revenge, but for the few bucks
“Fuck you, I’m French.” Really, this was the response to an air marshal aboard a Delta flight from Nice to New York by a passenger when confronted by flight attendants for repeatedly smoking in the restroom. I guess all the no smoking lamps and little signs aboard the plane were not as strong as his nicotine urge. I can almost understand this. Nice to NY is about 8 hours in the air. If you factor
2.Momondo- Still the best of the Airfare search sites, but they do have some problems as well. They check a lot of sources though ,so they are worth a look. They price one way fares at reasonable rates
3. Iberia- has had some great sales recently, under $300rt, and I've noticed that almost every week the
As I start packing for yet another intercontinental flight, I came to the happy realization that I am now quite good at this. I know not to take more than one pair of shoes, two pairs of jeans, and save the weight and space for a few extra pair of BVDs.
In the last year I have been in five continents and if you want to get technical, I could claim two sub continents. India is known as a subcontinent, but the Indian people are fond of telling you that they are their own continent. It is hard to a
I had a wonderful opportunity of traveling in an airline that’s, well let’s just say different from the other leading airlines. I am talking about Sir Richard Branson’s well-thought out creation, Virgin America. So, what’s so different about Virgin America? Well, for one, the airplanes have a unique interior to them. It doesn’t feel like you’re entering into a regular airplane. The mood lighting throughout the airplane and the elegant seats add to the sleek interior.
Now, I am somewhat of a scare
And The Best AirlineTravel Sites Are?
We’re suspicious when research shows this or that airline, web site or hotel was voted the best, because we know people and statistics don’t tell the truth.
On the other hand, when results jibe with what we know and have researched on our own, we believe.
Then there’s the all-important method the researchers use to get their results.
Keynote Competitive Research, which bills itself as “the internet’s performance authority,” conducted online interviews with 2,0
The airlines don’t give up easily, nor do they give much away.
So when U.S. Transportation Secretary, Ray Lahood,) announced that starting in August , airlines will be required to protect their passengers’ interests much more than they have, there were smiles on the faces of consumer advocates.
Yahoo News, quoting the The Associated Press, said DOT is asking for protections that we think are overdue and very obvious:
• Airlines will be required to refund ba

The brand new, much touted new Terminal 2 that just opened at San Francisco’s International Airport.
The video news clip is interesting, but less so than the terminal itself.
It may be one of the most modern, most chic, most green airport terminals in the country, if not the world.
