Airline Fees Make Pet Owners Dishonest

Nothing gets the ire up of travelers more than when their beloved pets are subject to unfair treatment… and fees by the hospitality industry are considered callous indeed.
Which is why Robin Boggs, an Atlanta consultant, jams her pet Chihuahua in her carry on bag rather than pay the pet fee.

She’s been caught twice and fined $150.00, but that doesn’t deter her because she just thinks the pet fees are another airline grab at her purse.

According to Cheapflights.com The Department of Transportation says only 0.005% of bags are lost.

But that’s not counting delays in repatriating passengers with their luggage.

The Cheapflights' site has some helpful information if it’s your bag that happens to be lost or delayed somewhere.

But you know, many of us  who fly frequently are so vexed at the baggage fees, that using a luggage forwarding system is not only a kind of sweet revenge, but for the few bucks

So when U.S. Transportation Secretary, Ray Lahood,) announced that starting in August , airlines will be required to protect their passengers’ interests much more than they have, there were smiles on the faces of consumer advocates.

Spirit Airlines Fees Again Break New Ground

Miramar, Florida (Tripatini Newswire) Lowfare carrier Spirit Airlines, notable in recent years for pushing the envelope with its advertising as well as add-on fees such as the one imposed in 2010 for items stored in overhead bins,today again put itself in the forefront of the à-la-carte surcharges wave. CEO Ben Baldanza announced that as of September 1, Spirit will be instituting two additional fees, one built into the ticket price and another charged in-flight.

Ryanair started charging for checked luggage before American Airlines, but blame American for having made nickel-and-diming safe for other U.S.-based carriers. Today all the major U.S. carriers – Delta, Continental, United, U.S. Airlines – charge $25* for the first checked bag on domestic flights and $35 for the second (checking in online only saves a couple of dollars). And for the final insult, on August 1st Spirit Airlines initiated fees for carry-on luggage.
