Some people are traipsing through lovely landscapes as others explore history from days of North America's earliest tribal peoples to the present. Avid birders use binoculars to spot colorful feathered friends in flight while canoers and kayakers dip paddles into the water. At the end of the day, many of these visitors to Panama City, Florida, belly up to an oyster bar to enjoy freshly shucked bivalves prepared in a variety

Our first two, a brut rosé and a Chardonnay, were from Windsor Vineyards.  Established in Marin County by Rodney Stone in 1959, he moved it to Windsor in Sonoma in 1962.  Strong began customizing the wine labels for his customers who reserved their favorite Windsor Vineyards wine.  After that, the customized labels took

Still vibrant and popular today, the five-thousand-year-old art of astrology can identify, say, business and romantic opportunities or challenges. And those celestial bodies slinking about the stars can also help pinpoint optimal times and places for travel. And since destinations have their own astro-charts -- which interact with yours -- astrology can even serve as a kind of spiritual travel agent. It can tell you, for example, about places likely to be harmonious or challenging ma

Savoring Vino, Vistas & Villages in Tuscany

Wandering the hilly, narrow cobblestone streets in our home base of Montalcino, a medieval city of interlocking passageways, steps, and alleyways curving around and through and behind and beyond the main square, I reminded myself I was walking through history spanning eight hundred years.

Stopping for lunch, I ordered a glass of the house wine. A bottle arrived at the table. When I protested, I was told to drink what I wanted and I would be charged accordingly. Not a bad system, I thought.

Fishing Tips for Beginners

9996930459?profile=originalHillebrand Steve USFWS/Pixnio

Fishing is a very sui generis kind of pursuit, whose appeal for many lies more in the serenity and relaxation of being in the great outdoors, alone or with friends/family - though others also introduce a sense of competition, like who can catch more fish. Either way, those casting about (ahem) to get started fishing could use a little guidance, so here goes:

Where to Start?

First off, you'll need to apply for a fishing license - generally at the state or provincial

Keen on Aberdeen, Scotland

No doubt about it, the third-largest largest Scottish city (pop. 197,000) is built to last. Unlike others in Scotland where the usual building material is sandstone, Aberdeen is made of sterner stuff; locally quarried grey granite. Many visitors to one of the USA's most historic states tend to stick close to its Atlantic Ocean coast, because of course there's a lot to love about destinations like Boston and Cape Cod to its south. But there's an entire state's worth of equally scenic and historic treasures stretching some 124 miles (just over 200 kilometres) west to the New York State border (a bit over a two-hour nonstop drive) - and it makes for a great overnight or several-day excursion from "Beantown"

When booking flights, most of us look to save as much money as we can. But if you're looking to book cheap air tickets, you need to understand the various factors that influence the cost of fares.

Flight Distance

The logical rule of thumb is that the greater the distance, the higher the ticket prices. Thus we conclude airplane ticket prices are directly proportional to the distance covered. But though distance is an essential factor, it's not the only one - the relative popul

If you're thinking about going on a sun-splashed holiday with your family or significant other, then choosing the destination of St Paul’s Bay - San Pawl il-Bahar in Maltese - is a fantastic option (named, by the way, because tradition has it that the biblical St. Paul was shipwrecked here on a journey from Caesarea to Rome). Just a half-hour drive southeast from Malta's capital Valletta, this town's normal population of just over 23,000 more than doubles, to around 60,000 in sum
