We San Franciscans are blessed breed. On any given winter day one can ski and surf on the same day, which I have actually done before. We are blessed with many wonderful activities with amazing scenery, from the beaches of the California coast to Yosemite and Lake Tahoe and Death Valley.  One place locals and visitors alike flock to is our famed Napa Valley. Here is one of my must visit wineries,  Chateua Montelena.. It's more like a winery in a castle. Located 75 miles nort

9296561685?profile=original

You must have heard of the obelisk of Axum which has come back to Ethiopia in 2002 after decades of stay in Italy. It was taken by Italians during the Ethio-Italy war in 1927. There are many of its type in Axum but most of them has fallen down and broken. You must be very sad if you have never been to Axum and visit these incredible obelisks

The Comfort Zone

As an outdoors tour operator at www.dustybootraveler.com  I would like to bring up the subject about this new trend that is picking up that is: traveling into the outdoors when visiting a new destination with the main idea to see more in the limited time frame available. The more active target group are now more than ever before realizing that going out of the comfort zone when traveling helps them limit their budged out-flow of cash while investing more on experience and new horizons. For an industry in which everything seems to be getting smaller, at least one thing is bucking the trend: the overhead bin. The AP reports that major U.S. airlines are making overhead bins larger in order to accommodate bulkier luggage and an influx of carry-on bags.

United, American, US, and Delta are all jumping on the bigger-bin bandwagon. Some carriers are outfitting bins with tougher latches; others are replacing overhead-bin doors with ones that curve out, allowing for more space for passen

What's for Breakfast in Burma?

9008687867?profile=original

In many countries, especially those in Asia, breakfast is mainly soup.  While Americans are slurping cereal at breakfast time many others are breakfasting on a hearty and nourishing soup. The Vietnamese enjoy a delicious bowl of pho, while the Japanese start their day with miso soup, a broth made from fermented soybean paste, and the Chinese favor congee, a rice soup-like porridge perked up with fish, vegetables and herbs. And, in Myanmar, “The Golden Land,” the people enjoy mohinga, which is

Death.

It's finite. It's tragic no matter when, where, how. And when it comes to the loss of a parent who lives in another city or country, it comes with an even heavier weight of guilt, of non-closure and logistics.

But we all deal with death - it's part of life really. And we often leave our home towns before or after college and head to places with better or more unique career opportunities. Sometimes we meet our life partners while away at school or elsewhere and we end up living in their cit

Choose any flavor.  The gelati at Balducci’s are imported from Italy and taste like no other ice cream – milky, not fatty, with a light, slightly icy texture (without being teeth-shattering), and with just the right amount of sweetness.
