Vietnam Travel Companies

9008617657?profile=original

Of all the trips I’ve taken, the one to Vietnam stands out as being the biggest surprise. I expected to meet people who didn’t like Americans – and was greeted by smiling faces. I knew very little about the history, other than the period of the “American War,” but found it all fascinating - and I loved the food. During three weeks in the country, I became nearly obsessed by the local crafts and, even though I’m typically not a shopper, I managed to fit a lot into my suitcase and ship the rest ho

Teacher-Student Travel Tips

9008617288?profile=originalAfter sleeping under the stars with snoring teens in tents all around me, I have discovered students can be a different breed of traveler than adults.  For instance, they can be picky (perhaps suspicious is a better word!) eaters, but I haven't met one yet that I couldn't get to at least try the local locro or quinoa soup.

Away from their parents, teens can be coaxed into a state of open-mindedness that doesn't always exist when Mom or Dad are hovering.  (we encourage family travel, but just want

Cheap Flights to Europe: My 9 Top Web Sites

1.Airfarewatchdog- They have been good at finding out some of the bargain flights to Europe. They don't list a lot of flights, but those they do are generally pretty cheap. Check the daily blog also.

2.Momondo- Still the best of the Airfare search sites, but they do have some problems as well. They check a lot of sources though ,so they are worth a look. They price one way fares at reasonable rates

3. Iberia- has had some great sales recently, under $300rt, and I've noticed that almost every week the

You might think London hotels would be sold out or vastly marked up during Royal Wedding week. Well, you might be wrong. Seems a lot of folks got the idea that it would be a total Picadilly circus, and decided to stay away. Travelocity, for example, just reported there’s plenty of availability, affordability, and even bargains – so if you can scrape the time together, you can get thee thither for Wills and Kate’s Excellent Adventure.

When it comes to hostelries, of course, the city on the Thame

Entering the Great Abyss

9008615078?profile=originalLast April I crawled out onto Shoshone Point on the South Rim and stared into the Great Abyss. It was a bit windy that day so I held onto a boulder to keep from being blown into oblivion. As I watched the fast moving clouds cast shadows upon the striated walls of amber, purple and mauve, I yearned to know the pulsing heart of the grandest gorge of them all. The terra cotta river carving it’s path a mile below held mysteries for me I had to know.In May, I will meet the challenge of rafting the tu

My Observations of the Japan Quake

I just wanted to post some things I saw during the quake. I was near Asakusa station in Tokyo waiting for my son. We were going to visit Nikko for the weekend. I was in a building on the first floor. After I felt the quake , I exited the building and waited in the middle of the street with others. Being from California, we are told to stay put or get under a desk or doorway during a quake. In Japan, it seems like everybody wants to be outside during a quake. Right or wrong, thats what I did. The

The airlines don’t give up easily, nor do they give much away.

So when U.S. Transportation Secretary, Ray Lahood,) announced that starting in August , airlines will be required to protect their passengers’ interests much more than they have, there were smiles on the faces of consumer advocates.

Yahoo News, quoting the The Associated  Press, said  DOT is asking for protections that we think are overdue and very obvious:

• Airlines will be required to refund ba

Custom Artisan Cereal: me & goji

Custom Artisan Cereal with reddish goji fruit

Cereal makes a terrific breakfast especially when it contains a tasty combination of grains, nuts and fruit. For foodies or those going organic, I found a custom artisanal cereal company with a fantastic product line-up: me and goji.

What's goji?  A Tibetan superfruit from the Himalayas  that's packed with dizzying amounts of nutrients and phytochemicals; a fruit with a mild, tangy taste that is slightly sweet and sour.
