Wowed by the Waterfalls of Iceland

There seems to be a waterfall around every corner in Iceland, but on our recent cruise port call we saw only a few of them. Even then, it could be argued that we didn’t see the best of them, but we probably saw the best known. Even as we sailed into Seydisfjordur, we were flanked on both sides by the steep banks of the fjord - and down those banks cascaded waterfalls. We were particularly struck by one, which divided into a twin fall, leaving a sort of island perched on the hillside.

But falls s

athirapally falls

Athirappilly Falls often described as ‘India’s Niagara’, which stands tall at 80 feet, the water surges around big rocks and cascades down in three separate plumes. Below the falls, the river remains turbulent for about 1 kilometer and then it calms and flows smoothly. The unique 180 meters (590 ft) elevation riparian forest in the Athirappilly-Vazhachal area is the only location where all four South Indian species of hornbills — the great hornbill (the state bird of Kerala), Malabar pied hornbi

A Wonder of India: Goa's Dudhsagar Falls

9009192892?profile=original

A tour to the Dudhsagar Waterfalls is an experience like no other. Situated at Goa border, it is the fourth tallest waterfall in India. Its name meaning "Ocean of Drain", It is a four stage fall over soaked slopes that makes it hard to take in all at once without a bit of hiking.

It is not your run of the mill visitor goal where you get on transport at your recreation, land at the area , have a decent view while crunching on a great nibble and after that head back. Nope, a long way from that.

History

Itatiaia National Park is the first and so also the oldest National Park of Brazil. It was inaugurated in 1937 and covers almost 30.000 hectares of the
larger Environmental Protection Area of the Mantiqueira mountain range.

Getting there from Rio de Janeiro is a +/- 200 km drive via the BR116 (Rio – São Paulo). The distance from São Paulo is about 250 Km. I’m
lucky to live in Volta Redonda, which is only 80km from the park.
