Williamsburg
For art and history lovers, a visit to Colonial Williamsburg is a must do. It will always be linked to pre-revolutionary colonial history of America. The place has been in existence since 1632 as a fortified settlement. The settlement was situated between the York and the James River. Williamsburg has played an important role in the history of Virginia. It was the capital of the colony of Virginia from 1699-1780. In recent several decades ago, it was transformed into an open-air museum that covers many city blocks.
Furthermore, the buildings have been restored from 17th to 19th century. The best place to see in Williamsburg is the Governor’s Palace. Virginia Beach
In what's dubbede “Neptune City”. You can start by exploring the three main beaches and their 14 miles of sandy shores. Another option could involve getting lost in its surrounding nature or mingling with the crowds. You can take a walk on the three-mile boardwalk of the beach. It's great for cycling and inline skating as well. There is a plethora of restaurants, shopping stalls and stages for live entertainment. Virginia Beach has plenty to offer, however its not for the history buffs or those looking for hipster neighborhoods. Additional activities may involve playing golf, sea kayaking and taking a boat tour. It also happens to be a great place for nightlife, notably during spring break.
Roanoke
Another interesting place to visit in Virginia is Roanoke. It's located in the Roanoke Valley off the Blue Ridge Parkway. It plays a vital role as the transportation hub for passengers and coal mining industry. You can explore the heritage of the railway and visit the Museum of Transportation. This museum offers a wide array of exhibits, including well kept steam locomotives. You can also take a trip to the summit of the Mill Mountain; once you reach the top, you can take a closer look at the man-made star. The Mountain offers beautiful landscaped parks, hiking trails and a zoo. This could very well make Roanoke a perfect place to spend quality time.
