At the entrance to the old town and located at one end of Main Street, this square dates from one first built by the Moors around 1160, built on by the Spanish during their rule over the Rock, then finalized by the Brits, who renamed the square after the Grand Casements barracks builts between 1789 and 1817 (pictured here at left). These days it´s lined with restaraunts, shops, and cafés.
