Conical Hat in Vietnam

For many years, Non (traditional conical hats woven from palm leaves) have been close to the daily life of Vietnamese women. The image of the Non was engraved on ancient objects, such as Ngoc Lu Bronze Drum and Dao Thinh Bronze Jar dated to 2,500-3,000 years ago.

Through time the Non has undergone many changes in terms of style and materials. Originally the Non was woven and plaited. Not until the 3rd century BC when iron was utilized, did people start using needles to sew the Non.

Beng Mealea Temple near Siem Reap, Cambodia

Have you been fond of climbing at the forsaken houses or new buildings back in the boyhood? When you walk through the future or former rooms, flats, corridors or balustrades, drawing pictures in your mind… It was so interesting, although slightly creepy sometimes.

Most tourists to Costa Rica never see San Jose. They are whisked off from the Juan Santamaria International Airport outside the city to the “pretty” sights of the country; or they fly into the northern Guanacaste international airport at Liberia and don’t go anywhere near the Central Valley. That’s too bad. San Jose has a lot to offer … from museums to art galleries, plazas, walking boulevards, shady green parks, hidden architectural gems and great restaurants … you just have to

Costa Rica Coffee Loved Around the World

By Shannon Farley

When the coffee mill is roasting in my little town in Costa Rica, you can smell the aroma throughout our hills and valleys. The sweet, pungent fragrance entices you to a steaming cup or two in the morning, and following tradition, another at 3:00 p.m. When I first moved to this small Central American land, I was puzzled by how it seemed the entire country stops at 3:00 pm for its cafecito”. After nearly 11 years of living here, I find the local custom lovely, and follow it quit

Nevertheless, she still uses a local travel agent whenever she plans her family’s holidays. Going to Ecuador? She contacts a travel expert in Ecuador. Going to the Baltics? She used an agency specializing in the region. Going to Chile? Same thing.

Why?
