The French Riviera is a great tourist attraction and Nice is the biggest resort here. It can be quite expensive vacationing here but that doesn’t mean you can’t do Nice on a strict budget.
Mmm, Food.
Nice has an abundance of Michelin star rated restaurants, but there are a few places you can get delicious food without breaking the bank. Brasserie de Monaco brews their own beer in house and has delicious offerings such as a focaccia with tomatoes, olives and fried onions. There’s also Marc de Café Restaurant, a rustic little establishment that uses only fresh ingredients. Their coffee and panini are incredible!
The Ocean
You can’t mention visiting Nice without talking about the Promenade des Anglais. This famous promenade stretches the length of Nice’s beautiful beach. You can enjoy the crystal blue waters of Nice without fretting about spending any money.
The Sights and Sounds
Nice has so much history so it’s no question that its museums and galleries have to be seen. Musée Matisse de Nice is a beautiful museum dedicated to the works of Henri Matisse and is free to all visitors. Parc de la Colline du Château, also known as Castle Hill, is an old castle surrounded by luscious greenery. There’s a beautiful place for picnics.
Cours Saleya Market
Nice is filled with great market places but none can compare to the Cours Saleya. Here you will find stalls that are more different than the last one; flowers, fruits and vegetables, books, antiques – a little something for everyone.
Travelling
Getting from one side of Nice to the other can easily be done by walking but that will get tiring after a while. Fortunately, there are frequent buses and for only €5 you can get an unlimited one-day pass.
