"Okay, so I didn't read it all - you're not in the travel business. But, that won't stop you from taking the bus/plane/car/train down to the city, right!"
"Yes, that helps - maybe. My ex had spotted an apartment for about $350,000 that she thought would be good for our son - or me - but I'm not in a position to do anything and I'm almost sure my son isn't either.
I would have been happier to hear…"
"Good morning, Susan!
So, what's happening with the "giant" apartment buildings on eastern Grand Street? Are there any still rentals, or are they all moderately priced cooperatives? Just asking ...!
There is a recent statement I believe that is…"
"Well, well. I will be down in Times Square once again for the New Year's celebration. This time, like last year, I'll be working as a "Greeter" at Hurley's on W. 48th Street for a company that sold tickets of varying denominations (so to speak!)…"
"Oh, I know, but you're really not comparing the right things. Grand Central is a station only for the subways; Grand Central Terminal is the beginning and the end of the line for the Harlem, Hudson, New Haven, and soon a branch of the LIRR. And…"
"Yoo hoo, Donna! Boring tour Guide here: it's Grand Central TERMINAL! The biggest in the world - and getting bigger once the LIRR extension is installed into the third level. (Penn Station's busier, though.)
Speaking of which: you could take…"
"And I wonder if anyone can remember the bus station over by First Avenue and the Midtown Tunnel? That would be dating you a bit, but there used to be more ways to get out of town it seems than there is now. (And how about extending that 7 train to…"
"Excellent - just the sort of feedback I want (after all these futile months on facebook). But, not to be picky, but a good friend and I experimented with our first Shake Shack, this one on Columbus and 77th - and blah! We hated it! Greasy burgers,…"
"Well, on the 12th of this month I'm meeting a family of four from England on their first trip (at least for the kids) to New York at the Holiday Inn on W. 26th between 6th and 7th. Such an introduction to the Big City - but it is indeed interesting.…"
Wonderful top hear that you bring foks down to the Lower East Side! The neighborhood is always going through lots of change Those huge apartment buildings have all been transformed into cooperative apartments.. As far as moderate price....not sure what you mean by that, as some are hovering in the $800,000.00 range! (I work with someone whose husband grew up in them, and was around for the conversion).
And yes...Community Board # 3 has finally OK'd the development of those parking lots you mentioned. The hold up was the amount of affordable housing allocated to long time residents, and seniors. Check out the blog Bowery Boogie for more info on the guidlines. There is planning for 1000 units, 50% of which are to be low and moderate priced units.
