Running the entire length of Namibia’s Atlantic coast and reaching a bit down into neighboring South Africa and up into Angola, the Namib “sand sea” is an astonishing coastal desert (and considered the world’s oldest desert) including dunes, flats, canyons, and salt/clay pans (the most famous called Sossuvlei). It's perhaps the country's main attraction for visitors, including its Namib-Naukluft National Park, and sandboarding the dunes is a popular activity.
