An interesting cautionary note: turns out that scuba diving is not usually covered under standard travel insurance because it´s considered a "higher risk" activity, so you´ll probably want to take out supplementary insurance (though this usually isn´t expensive) https://usatoday.com/story/travel/2025/10/28/common-vacation-activi...

I still have memories of my very first time snorkeling - it was 1973 off a resort beach (I don´t remember which one) in St. Croix, and I was so entranced that I would spend what seemed like hours at it. Of course, it was also my first experience with the strong Caribbean sun - not being savvy enough to wear sunscreen and/or a long-sleeve shirt - and so all those hours floating and paddling face down left me with a sunburn that made my back resemble a pizza marinara.
