This country is a haven for pristine ecotourism, and Mbatoví is an excellent example. Located in the Los Altos Mountains, this privately owned reserve is packed with streams, waterfalls, exotic flora including rare ferns, wild orchids, and cactus, along with fauns like agouti pacas, tapitís, armadillos, and more (along with plenty of cool species of birds). Besides hiking (guided or on your own), there are also hanging bridges like this one, a 345-foot zipline, and rappelling opportunities. It's open to the public via reservation on its website. It's also pretty convenient to get to; the nearest city is Paraguari, about an hour's drive from the capital.
