The Gambia National Museum in capital Banjul

A modest three-story affair in the city center, this 38-year-old institution focuses on history (including prehistory), natural history, and culture in the territory of what is today Gambia. There are special exhibits on archaeology, music and musical instruments, and the role of women in national life and history. It goes without saying that this museum is a must when visiting Banjul.
