Kenya´s rituals of passage

These are culturally significant ceremonies marking transitions in a person's life—such as birth, adolescence, marriage, and death. In East Africa, tribes have diverse, deeply rooted traditions that symbolize these life changes. In Kenya, they include the tumdo (a rite of passage from boyhood to manhood) and various rituals surrounding birth, death, and circumcisions.
