Located on the outskirts overlooking Mount Ararat and the Ararat Valley, the Armenian Genocide Memorial Museum was built in the late 1960s, during Soviet times, with the two-story museum discreetly added in 1995, to commemorate, document, and explain the mass murder of around a million Armenians in 1915-17 by the Ottoman Turks whose empire then ruled here. Another sobering reminder, if any is needed, of man's inhumanity to man.
