Experiencing the Chamorro culture of Guam

With other Micronesians comprising about half of the island's population as well as present on other islands of the Marianas, the Chamorros are desended from its original settlers, who arrived around 4,000 years ago from Southeast Asia, with ethnicity drawn from a mix of Filipino, Indonesian, Taiwan, the Caroline Islands, and Japan. As a result of Spain's colonization from 1668 to 1898 (when it was conquered by the United States in the Spanish-American War)  many also have some Spanish and Mexican ancestry.
