Tom Meaker by Inka Piegsa-Quischotte Feet firmly planted on the ground, left elbow out, forearm straight, hand and wrist covered with a thick leather glove, I looked apprehensively at the master falconer standing by my side. He had just sent a magnificent Harris's hawk into the air, soaring into the sky, then swooping down towards me. “He won’t attack me, will he?” I asked. “Not unless he mistakes you for a rabbit,” the instructor deadpanned, “and there is no chance of that”, he grinned. He…

A bird report will be posted later today.
Recently past the 1,000 birds worldwide list! Peanuts compared to some, but the goal is to enjoy the common birds as well as the rare ones. Great horned owl in Central Park, New York, recently, but my favourite so far anywhere has to be a Strange-tailed tyrant in the middle of nowhere in the Esteros de Iberá in Corrientes Province. Here is a video of this unique thing. It floats almost.
Bhutan has 700+ birds waiting to be watched. If you wish to get more details, get in touch with me at info@baralynka.com
Also feel free to contact me about info on birding locations etc - I'm also a freelance birding guide based in Ruhengeri (Musanze), NW Rwanda
It is a safe country, quiet, not to many tourists and numerous (rare) birds.
