This past few weeks, Maldives is undergoing a political turmoil and low simmering protests. The President was deposed and another one has taken over. There were protests that became violent.
I am in India at the moment, and the news reports indicate that domestic tourism has been hit. Maldives is a popular honeymoon destination for a lot of Indians who do not need a visa to visit the country.
Without delving into the political issues involved, it is presumed that high end resorts are bound to have minimal impact, but others may see a decline for a couple of weeks or months.
