When we booked the "Algarve jeep safari," they promised a tour to the interior to show there was more to Portugal's southernmost region than beaches, bars and golf courses. We passed through remote villages; stopped off at a couple of out-of-the-way places for a coffee break and lunch; visited a distillery; and finally stopped in a cork oak grove, where Tomás our guide gave an interesting presentation. At home, I usually drink wine in a screwtop bottle. I know there’s a bit of controversy…

  • Hello! I represent a small luxury travel agency in Costa Rica. The short story is, I started as a journalist, had the opportunity to do travel writing with this company, but am trying to expand the marketing department into the PR arena. What I would really love is a little guidance! I write press releases from the salesy side, the journalistic side and have had some great stories to tell, but am missing the selling my own work aspect of the job.

Does anyone have any advice for someone starting out in travel marketing and PR? We'd love to organize some individual fam trips for anyone that can get our agency into high end travel magazines or newspapers... so it could be a great learning experience for all. Otherwise, I'm really just looking for some advice on how to get that first piece published... or how to work with the media!

My email is clairesaylor (at) goduesouth (dot) com ... or just respond directly to this wall so everyone can join in!
