Was fascinated to recently read this BBC travel piece about one of the world's least known "countries" - as well as the world's largest landlocked enclave - an autonomous republic cut off from the rest of Azerbaijan by a slice of Armenia.   • The South Caucasus region of Nagorno-Karabakh has been disputed between Azerbaijan and Armenia since the early 20th century, and though since that time it was included in Azeri territory, ethnically it's about three quarters Armenian. Armenia won control over it in the so-called First Nagorno-Karabakh War from 1988 to 1994, but in the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War, in the fall of 2020, Azerbaijan wrested it back.
