A stellar stay at the Commander Hotel in Ocean City

Notyourbroom Ocean City is a resort town on a barrier island off a stretch of southern Maryland coast, featuring miles of beach; a wooden boardwalk lined with restaurants, shops, theme-park attractions, and quite a few hotels. So on a recent visit with my daughter, we had a lot to choose from. We bypassed the chain properties in favor of a cherished local independent, the Commander. Despite its small size (around just 12,500 square miles), the Old Line State is packed with natural beauty, and the website OnlyinYourState.com has come up with a list of its ten most beautiful lakes.
