Hawaii makes chocolate - and it´s delicious!

Original Hawaiian Chocolate Factory      When you come to the Aloha State, go beyond the mai tais and and enjoy some divine, locally grown chocolate! The Hawaiian islands are home a number of chocolate-making companies, and most are bean-to-bar businesses. Hawaii is the only U.S. state which grows cacao, then processes and makes it into bars and other cocoa products. I've done my share of eating chocolates on the different islands, and I find the chocolate confections not overly sweet and…

Its cuisine is cited as one of "5 Reasons Why Colombia Is Among the World´s most Appealing Destinations"

Pierrick Lemaret,Colombia's location and varied environments - from coastal to mountain to rainforest to rolling plains - as well as ethnic heritage including pre-columbian, Spanish, and African, give the country's cuisine a flavourful depth indeed. • Now here´s a bit of a new foodie frontier, for sure https://www.travelandleisure.com/albania-food-destination-plan-your...
  • I'm heading to Atlanta in a couple of weeks and am staying near and going to a convention near the Georgia world Congress Center.
Which restaurants do you recommend nearby?
    • Hello there, Sandi. Atlanta can be a great dining town but it would help to know a bit about your tastes and budget. Just off the top of my head, there are a couple of restos which nicely update Southern food, both a 10 minute drive away: Sweet Georgia´s Juke Joint on the "soul food" side of things (try the chicken and waffles, and follow it up with the peach cobbler!) along with regular live music, and White Oak (love their take on shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes, plus a great selection of bourbon and whiskey). Others include New South Kitchen and Restaurant 10 (especially for BBQ). And if you like Mexican, try the upscale modern take on it at Alma Cocina.
  • When I was a student at Georgetown University and on all my subsequent visits to Washington DC I loved trying all the different ethnic restaurants in a city full of embassies and immigrants. And this piece about the recent DC food festival New Kitchens on the Block included several interesting-sounding newbies - perhaps the most intriguing being "Thai-Italian fusion" lol: https://www.axios.com/local/washington-dc/2023/05/22/new-kitchens-o...
  • Travel+Leisure recently shone the spotlight on a cool new restaurant in Minneapolis called Owamni, specializing in nouvelle, First Nations-inspired cuisine - sounds yummy! https://www.travelandleisure.com/owamni-indigenous-food-lab-minneap...

  • The Daily Beast recently ran a piece on restaurant picks in Richmond, yum! (And best check it out on your phone, which is free, because the desktop version wants you to subscribe before viewing): https://www.thedailybeast.com/where-to-eat-in-richmond-virginia?via...
Our Tips on Where to Eat in Richmond, Virginia
Getting to dine in Richmond may be one of the best things about visiting this city.
  • And now comes the world's first kosher restaurant with a Michelin star, in the Eixample near Diagonal, and this article in the Times of Israel also discusses the city's recent campaigns targeting Jewish and Israeli visitors, called “Shalom Barcelona” and “Barcelona Connects Israel.” Oy! https://www.timesofisrael.com/hungry-for-jewish-tourism-barcelona-g...
Hungry for Jewish tourism, Barcelona gets world’s 1st kosher Michelin-starred eatery
The city is rolling out the red carpet and seeking to brand itself as a destination for Jews interested in exploring their heritage
  • I remember being quite impressed by several high-end restaurants I sampled on my last visit to Toronto, and now comes news that the city is home to all 13 of Canada's very first restaurants to receive Michelin stars (and one, a Japanese, received two). Some have criticized the selection for lack of diversity - apart from Japanese, all the rest are Euro-centric when there are dozens of ethnicities culinarily represented here - but still, it's really stirring the pot! https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-62894286

  • Off the beaten track to say the least, Greenland is far from what comes to mind when you think Michelin-starred restaurants, but that's precisely what 30-year-old chef Poul Andrias Ziska, from Denmark's also remote Faroe Islands, has done in the hamlet of Ilimanaq, reachable only by boat and now the world's northernmost of its kind, Would you make the journey https://www.thelocal.dk/20220713/faroe-island-chef-sets-up-worlds-n...
