  • I read this with interest, as many years ago I did an article about camping safari expeditions - partaking of an itinerary through Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia, and experienced first hand some of the points mentioned here. so I´m glad to see that all these years later the country remains just as appealing - though much less celebrated - as a safari destination: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/luxury-bespoke-holidays/safari-i...

With its rich history, sprawling deserts, and laid-back pace, Namibia offers a different side of southern Africa.
  • I remember being stuck, when visiting Namibia many years ago, by seeing local black folks singing rousing German drinking songs in a Windhoek pub. So it was fascinating to watch Drew Binsky's video about the German legacy here: https://youtu.be/kjOH_4NEcAY
  • Namibia has two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the amazing Namib "sand sea" coastal desert and one of Africa's largest concentration of prehistoric petroglyphs, at a site called Twyfelfontein or /Ui-//aes: https://whc.unesco.org/en/statesparties/na

  • On a southern-Africa safari tour many years ago, I especially remember being wowed by Namibia, so the images in this excellent travel vlogger video brought back amazing memories. And I'm especially pleased to be able to bring it to your attention because the blogger, Andrei Ptushkin, is Ukrainian and based in Kyiv. I wonder what he's doing right now... https://youtu.be/YSMNBrzJWGA

  • I'm off to Nam next friday for a two week Env Edu. trip with 15 College students from the UK - should be an exciting time teaching them about Namibia's amazing desert adapted systems
  • If you're traveling in Namibia, you should include a stop at the Cheetah Conservation Fund headquarters near Otjiwarongo, in the shadow of the Waterberg Plateau. Dr. Laurie Marker has created a fascinating center where you'll see cheetahs being cared for and evidence of her influence in rescuing this elegant fast-vanishing creature. Go to http://www.cheetah.org to learn more.
  • Here is an itinerary that gives you a great Namibia overview.
