The Travel Urge

By Emily Guilmette
In recent weeks I have been updating ourKuoda  web site, blog and social pages (please look for us on facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, digg and delicious), to provide better and more interesting information to all of you.

As I combed through various sites and articles, I came across a Pico Iyer essay on Salon´s site entitled "Why We Travel." While I highly recommend the full article to all of you, I think the beginning is particularly resonant.

9008631097?profile=originalI’m at the end of my first week of studying Spanish in charming Heredia after taking a few weeks of classes at the Sámara Beach Campus and have tried to take advantage of being in a city again!

Yogi I am not, but since trying yoga in Sámara, I decided to look for a class while I studied Spanish in Heredia.

I didn’t have to look very hard; my host family “brother” invited me to his yoga class my first night at the house.  So the next day after Spanish classes, I went home to meet up with Andy and

Our day-long adventure took us south (full photos at the end of the post!), zipping with our chatty driver out of the historic center of Cusco. We passed the city’s more modern urban areas, watching locals hurry about their daily business and hankering for a stop in one of the many “pollerias,” where spicy rotisserie chicken is served dripping and with avocado. We sped through the small towns just outside of Cusco that each specialize in a type of foo

Computer, Camera, phone, Ipod, chargers (wall and car), dvd player, you know the list. I was at the airport waiting for my plane and stopped. In the crowded waiting room, I noticed everyon

Visiting Kerala, India

BACKWATERS of INDIA9008631293?profile=original

Why: The local slogan for Kerala is ‘God’s own country’. A big statement but, it’s very special. This is south India’s top destination for history, and for pampering and relaxation. The ancient healing art of Ayurveda is available here for devotees as well as stressed out travellers. A bit of pampering in India is a good idea as travelling here is full on and at times tiring.

Famous for: Kerala’s backwaters comprise a network of waterways that are the natural transport web.  T
