I am so glad to find this website and all of its resources and thought I'd take the time to introduce myself and weasel my way into the community - lol. My husband and I consider ourselves avid travelers, in the past time and money constricted what we could do - now it is just money. We retired last year, I was a teacher, he worked for the utility company. Our travel was restricted to spring breaks and summer vacations - now we can take advantage of offers anytime of the year and are excited about this.
Most of our travel has been on cruises, I know some look down their noses at cruising - we have found it to be a wonderful way to visit many places. We especially enjoy the all-inclusive nature of cruising, not having to decide where to go for dinner and worry about the cost is a very good feeling. Our cruises number 20 - we have been to Alaska, Mexican Riviera, most of the Caribbean, Baltic Capitals, and the East and West Mediterranean. Our next cruise will be on the Oasis of the Seas in September - we are looking forward to enjoying this large ship and all it has to offer.
That being said, we are expanding our horizons and will be on a land tour in June. This tour is called the Grand Alpine and we will visit Austria, Switzerland, Germany,France, and Italy. Our hope is that it opens up new travel opportunities that we will enjoy and we can begin to stretch our wings just a little more.
Our dream vacation that we are working toward is an African Safari and we are hoping to do that next year. I'm planning on using this site as a resource as I research this trip. At this point I haven't pinned down when to go, where to go, how to get this done, etc.! Our goals with the trip is to enjoy the wildlife and see as much as possible. We have enjoyed taking pictures on each of trips and that has become a hobby that can be shared in our travels.
I would love to hear from others on any of these trips and activities. Also, I have considered getting travel agent certification to book some of my own trips and would love information or thoughts on doing this. Thanks for reading this far, if you are still with me and want to see some of our pictures, you can see my other blog at Personal blog
