Mehtab Bagh (Agra) - Ticket Price, Timings, Location!

Mehtab Bagh is a beautiful garden complex in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, that offers a stunning view of the Taj Mahal. It is located on the opposite bank of the Yamuna river, and it is aligned with the gardens of the Taj Mahal. Mehtab Bagh is also known as the Moonlight Garden, as it was designed to be an ideal spot for viewing the Taj Mahal on moonlit nights.

Mehtab Bagh was built by Emperor Babur, the founder of the Mughal dynasty, in the 16th century. It was one of the eleven Mughal gardens that were constructed along the Yamuna river. The garden was later improved by Emperor Shah Jahan, who built the Taj Mahal for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Mehtab Bagh was also said to be the site where Shah Jahan wanted to build a black marble mausoleum for himself, as a mirror image of the Taj Mahal. Plan was never executed due to his imprisonment by his son Aurangzeb.

Mehtab Bagh was neglected and forgotten for centuries, until it was rediscovered and restored by the Archaeological Survey of India in the 1990s. The garden is now a popular tourist attraction, as it provides a perfect backdrop for photography and sightseeing. The garden has a rectangular shape, with four sandstone towers at each corner. It has a large octagonal tank in the center, which reflects the image of the Taj Mahal. The garden also has various plants and flowers that add to its beauty and charm.
