I´ve been here, too, and can see why the fuss - a lot of culture and attractions and good eating, whilst significantly more low key that a number of other popular Spanish cities.
I´ve had the pleasure of spending more time in Málaga and getting to know it better this year, and it truly is a charming destination, and on the upswing both in terms of tourism and attracting foreign investment and immgrants. In fact, some might say a little too successful, with hints of an "overtourism" backlash as is being seen in Barcelona, the Canary and Balearic Islands, and elsewhere in Europe.
