Dubai ($400 Million)

Originally commissioned for Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei, The Dubai (Yacht) is the third longest private yacht ever built at 531 feet. Featuring extensive amounts of gold and platinum detailing throughout its interior, The Dubai has seven luxury VIP suites along with a striking 90-foot atrium, a mosaic swimming pool with handmade tiles, and a helipad. There is room for up to 115 guests to be pampered by the 88-member crew. Current owner Mohammed Al Maktoum of Dubai also had a submarine added to the yacht to be able to explore below the waves in total seclusion.

Azzam ($650 Million)

Claiming the title of longest private motor yacht in the world at 590 feet, Azzam was built in 2013 for Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. Reportedly capable of travelling more than 30 knots (34 miles per hour) thanks to its 94,000 horsepower engine. Azzam is like a private luxury city that floats. Accommodations include a salon, dining room, office, and library on the main deck alone. Below the deck is space for 36 guests and 60 crew members so that everyone can comfortably enjoy their journey. This yacht is also equipped with a health spa, cinema, and even a missile defence system much like the Eclipse (see below).

Streets of Monaco ($1.1 Billion)

Earning its name from the replica Monte Carlo set into its design, the Streets of Monaco is less of a boat and more of a floating piece of a city. When completed, this one-of-a-kind yacht will include replicas of landmarks from Monaco like the famous Monte Carlo Casino and racetrack. Hotels, cafes, shops, and offices are connected by streets that run throughout its flanks. Seven penthouse suites will mimic famous landmarks like the Hotel de Paris. The owner's apartment will occupy the top three stories. With soaring ceilings, marble floors, and opulent furnishings like a grand piano, every aspect pays tribute to the ritzy Monaco style.

Eclipse ($1.5 Billion)

Russian billionaire oligarch Roman Abramovich commissioned the Eclipse in 2010, and it was at that time the world's largest and most expensive privately owned yacht. At 533 feet long, the Eclipse features two helipads, 24 guest cabins, two swimming pools, several hot tubs, a disco hall, and a mini-submarine that can submerge up to 50 meters underwater. No expense was spared on the lavish interior detailing, which includes a handmade staircase crafted of crystal and a master suite clad in marble. For the ultimate privacy, the yacht is also fitted with an intruder detection system and even a missile defence system.

History Supreme ($4.8 Billion)

Currently, the most expensive yacht ever built was designed for an anonymous Malaysian businessman at a staggering cost of over 4.8 billion dollars. Constructed in the United Kingdom, the one-of-a-kind ship features over 100,000 kg of gold and platinum throughout its design including a wall of meteorite rock and a statue made from real T-Rex bones in the master suite. Weighing nearly 4,500 tons due to precious metals and stones like its $45 million, diamond-encrusted liquor bottle, the History Supreme lives up to its name with no expense spared. From its gold-wrapped base to its 40 security guards, this ultra-exclusive floating palace has other luxury yachts thoroughly outmatched in both price and opulence.

Whether escaping to remote tropical aisles or entertaining elite guests in port, these lavish yachts offer unparalleled luxury amenities combined with plenty of space to stretch out on the open sea. For the ultra-rich in search of a unique nautical home away from home or the ultimate status symbol, these custom-designed mega yachts are the epitome of extravagance on the waves. Prices may be higher than many dream homes, but for those select buyers with billions at their disposal satisfaction is all but guaranteed.
