Nagarkot is located 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. It lies at an altitude of 2,195 m on the Kathmandu Valley rim.
Due to the high elevation, Nagarkot has a cool, temperate climate. Winters can get quite cold, with temperatures dropping below freezing. Summers are mild and pleasant.
