A wind of lyricism blowing on Paris lifts the curtain upon Jacques Garcia’s
newest creation: the hotel Athénée, a charming and exceptional boutique-hotel
reminiscent of the 19th century Italian romance.
Based on four of the most renowned lyric tragedies of the opera, the hotel offers
both the curious as well as the connoisseurs an occasion to be submerged by an
exceptional décor in which the presence of the biggest divas and tenors is almost
tangible. From La Traviata to Aida, Faust and Don Giovanni, the Athénée retraces
the heroes’ adventures through a journey of the senses. Carte blanche given to
the decorator, at once composer and conductor, whose poetic setting beats to the
rhythm of the hearts of Violetta, Aida, Marguerite and Donna Anna.
From secret nooks to intimate rooms, Jacques Garcia’s palette is crimson,
deep and poetic. Right down the street from the boulevard Haussmann and a
birdsong away from the Palais Garnier, the hotel faces the legendary concert
hall, l’Olympia. Similar to a gateway between immortal and living legends, one
wouldn’t be surprised to find Maria Callas, drink in hand, chatting at the bar with
Charlotte Gainsbourg. Adorned with authentic autographed photos of the most
famous opera singers, the Red Bar offers a precious and captivating retrospective
to both opera admirers and newbies.
When the interlude rings, glass chimes and smoke curls will take over in the cosy
smoking room, softened by lounge music saving all the mystery and magic of
opera music for the stage.
Walls dressed in Pierre Frey fabrics, custom made furniture covered velvet and
taffeta, bathrooms glistening with beautiful glass mosaics, raise the twenty rooms
of the hotel to a delightful balance of tradition and modernity. The rich materials
and lush fabrics are in perfect sync with the ultra modern comfort of a luxury
hotel. Treated like a true leading role, each room plays its own part, from the
charming balconies on the first floor to the breathtaking views on the Parisian
rooftops. Guests will truly be received as divas.
