As a small country situated on the Adriatic Coast of the Balkans of southeast Europe, Montenegro is truly a wonderful pearl of the Mediterranean region. There is absolutely no way that you can find a small piece of Earth as beautiful as the one I am writing about right now. Natural surroundings, parks, lakes, and rivers create a breathtaking lobby to a sea entrance.
From the rugged terrains of beautiful and wild mountains averaging more than 2,000 meters in elevation up to long and breathtaking beaches, country of Montenegro has to offer some of the most beautiful natural scenery and vivid cultural life.
Apart from lovely cities and towns like capital Podgorica, Cetinje, Budva, and Kotor; lovely Skadar Lake (the country's largest), its deepest cave, Iron Deep; this marvelous country will make you shake your head in disbelief.
Rafting Adventures on the Amazing Tara River
Whitewater rafting amid soaring cliffs through the Kanjon Rijeke Tare, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that's Europe's deepest river gorge and the world's tenth deepest, can provide you with some of the most unforgettable memories. It features rocky and pebbly terraces, beautiful sandy beaches, and more than 80 caves along the way. May and early June are known for a higher level of water flows, thus attracting more adventuresome groups. On the other hand, July through September the water levels drop and create perfect conditions for younger families and multi-generational groups.
Hiking in the Wilderness of Mount Durmitor
Thanks to the hyperhumid climate on its western flanks, the Montenegran mountain ranges were among the most ice-eroded parts of the Balkan Peninsula during the glacial period, leaving its terrains among Europe's most rugged. This means a spectacular environment for hiking and enjoying nature. One of the Balkans' most popular nature parks, Durmitor National Park has a scenery made for hikers and nature lovers. During the summer, the Durmitor Mountain and the surrounding area is packed with visitors, and of the main reason, apart from the picturesque landscapes, is the fact that it offers easily accessible peaks and wonderful lakes created from the glacial erosion.

The lovely Adriatic coast provides a spectacular backdrop for paragliding and a wide range of adrenaline-pumping sports. The mountains above Budva and Kotor are particularly well known for their outstanding views, combined with the natural beauty of the whole Boka Bay region, where mountains kiss the sea. This whole bay is packed with medieval towns, ravishing architecture and luxurious spots like Porto Montenegro marina, winner of several rewards for superyacht marinas in the Mediterranean.
