Everest Base Camp Trek is a 12-day adventure mountain trip in Nepal, which is one of the best destinations to travel for adventure and mountain lovers. The trek offers pristine mountain views including the world’s highest mountain Everest and its surrounding peaks. The Everest region is home to the mountain legend Sherpa People, so you will also have an opportunity of meeting these people, experience their culture, religion, and lifestyle, and get their warm hospitality during trekking to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
An Adventurous scenic flight takes you to Lukla from Kathmandu. However, the flights to Lukla are operating from Ramechhap (Manthali) during the busy trekking seasons. After landing at Lukla Airport, the walking journey begins and reaches Phakding on the first day.
After the first night stay in Phakding, you trek to Namche Bazaar on the second day and take the first altitude practice day on the third day. You hike to Hotel Everest View for the altitude practice and stay in Namche Bazaar. It means you spend the second and third nights in Namche Bazaar.
The third day’s journey goes to Tengboche, which is the best hill station to see Mt. Ama Dablam (the most charming mountain in the Everest region). You also visit an ancient Buddhist monastery in the evening and join regular worship with the monks.
After Tengboche, you trek to Dingboche and take the second acclimatization rest on the sixth day. On the second acclimatization day, you hike to Nangkartshang Hill. You see Nepal’s 4th and world’s 5th highest mountain with many other high snow-capped mountains during this hike.
After well-acclimatization from the second one in Dingboche, you trek higher to Lobuche. The 8th day of the Everest Base Camp Trek is important because you are reaching the final destination Everest Base Camp. You trek early morning from Lobuche to Gorakshep and hike to Everest Base Camp today.
On the 9th day, you hike to Kala Patthar and trek back to Pheriche through Lobuche and Thukla. If you do not have time to walk back to Lukla after the Kala Patthar and the Base Camp, you can fly out on a helicopter directly to Kathmandu from Gorakshep, which is the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Return trek.
You arrive in Lukla with 3 days of walk from Gorakshep, which you take eight days on your way up. You spend the last night of the trek in Lukla before taking a flight back to Kathmandu. Check the outline itinerary of the Everest Base Camp trek below:
