Face it, Australia is one big country and involves a lot of car time to get the full road trip experience.

You can’t avoid bathroom breaks and you can’t avoid gas stops. You can, though, save time by avoiding at restaurants and chowing down on the go, by taking some particularly Aussie goodies along with you!

Anzac Biscuits

A crunchy commemoration (below) of the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought in World War I, its basic ingredients are rolled oats, flour, sugar, desiccated coconut, golden syrup, butter, bicarbonate of soda and water. Super delicious and has a long shelf life!

Sausage Rolls

Nothing tastes as good as sausage meat wrapped in a pastry and then oven baked. Your taste buds will for sure thank you!

Dampers

This simple soda bread made from wheat flour, water and salt will make any long distance ride that much better. Just don’t forget the golden syrup drizzle.

Tim Tams

If you love chocolate you will love Tim Tams (above). These biscuits consist of two layers of chocolate malted biscuit, separated by a light chocolate filling and coated in chocolate, as well.

While there are always the traditional road-trip snacks such as popcorn, nuts and even dry fruit, why not get the full Aussie experience by renting a budget car and enjoying one or more of the above native snacks. You and your riders will be extremely happy!

Happy travels!
