You will cross a small glacier keeping the Khumbu glacier on your right before reaching the last trekking camp Gorakshep (5180m) during the Everest base camp trek. It is about two to two hours and a half hike to the base camp Gorakshep (one way) and hike back to Gorakshep to spend the night then you hike to Kalapatthar early morning to see stunning mountain views. If you do not have enough time to complete a 12-day EBC trip or do not want to trek back on the same trail to Lukla, you can fly out from Gorakshep to Kathmandu directly, which is a short EBC trek.
The Everest high passes trekkers also visit here after crossing Kongma La. After visiting the base camp, if you have time, we suggest visiting the Gokyo lakes and Gokyo Ri crossing Cho La pass.
