Swayambhu Stupa

Swayambhu Stupa is a Buddhist temple and pilgrimage site located on a hilltop in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is one of the oldest and most sacred Buddhist sites in Nepal, with a history dating back over 2,000 years.

The stupa is a large white dome with a golden spire on top, surrounded by prayer wheels, prayer flags, and another Buddhist iconography. It is believed to enshrine the relics of the Buddha and other holy figures and is considered to be a source of great spiritual power.

The temple is also home to a large population of monkeys, who are considered sacred by the local community and are a popular attraction for visitors. The monkeys are known to be mischievous and sometimes steal food and other items from unsuspecting visitors, so it is important to be cautious and respectful when visiting the temple.

Swayambhu Stupa is a significant cultural and religious site in Nepal and attracts thousands of visitors each year, both locals and tourists alike.
