Located outside the town of Trebujeni, 45 minutes to an hour northeast of Chișinău, the UNESCO World Heritage Orheiul Vechi complex sits on a limestone ridge over the Raut River and includes cave monastic cells dating back to the 1st century, an Orthodox church dating back to the 15th century, a fortification dating back to the 5th century BCE, an a small archaeological museum reflecting all the above with artifacts dating back to the Neolithic-Era Cucuteni-Trypilia culture.
