In the southeast of the country (a three-hour flight from Kyiv or a bit over seven hours driving) , the largest island in the Dnieper River - part of a national park - is home to Zaporizka Sic, built in traditional style in the 1980s as a museum of Zaporozhian Cossacks, whose history in this area dates back to at least the late 15th century. A fascinating bit of Ukrainian history!
