Located in the Western Vasayas, around the center of the Philippine archipelago, with a population of some 38,000, Boracay has become reknowned as one of Asia's top chill-out spots, with numerous gorgeous beaches, a lively nightlife, and fantastic water spots. In fact, it became too popular for its own good, and in 2018 was closed to tourism for renovation and clean-up, then reopened with stricter rules to help address sanitation issues and other problems.
