Our 17th Annual ART FOR LIFE gala is held in celebration of the creative energy of our inner-city youth, honored exemplary individuals for success in their respective fields and good works to better our communities. Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation (RPAF) is dedicated to providing inner city youth with significant exposure to the arts, as well as to supporting emerging artists with exhibition opportunities. Rush was founded in 1995 by three brothers: Danny Simmons, visual artist and community builder; media mogul Russell Simmons; and Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons of the legendary hip-hop group Run-DMC. Their goal was to fill the gap that the disenfranchised and people of color faced in both accessing the arts and exhibition opportunities. Art saves lives, it is that simple. Rush Philanthropic believes that if you give young people the opportunity to practice and appreciate art — whether poetry, music, dance, or the visual arts — then you will see lives transformed as young people learn to value their own unique voices and visions. It is this type of impact we aspire to see happen and that your support will make possible.

LONGHOUSE RESERVE 2016 JUBILEE YEAR SUMMER BENEFIT—SERIOUS MOONLIGHT—TO CELEBRATE 25 EXCEPTIONAL YEARS

2016 marks the 25th anniversary of LongHouse Reserve. At SERIOUS MOONLIGHT on Saturday, July 23rd, many of the artists and art lovers that the Foundation has honored will in turn be honoring founder, Jack Lenor Larsen, and the future of the 16-acre treasure that is LongHouse. On the night, either on screen or in person, past honorees Bill T. Jones, Laurie Anderson, Agnes Gund, Cindy Sherman, Nico Muhly, Robert Wilson, Barbara Slifka and Dorothy Lichtenstein will be there to salute or to entertain.

Alice Waters has personally overseen the evening’s dinner menu, Christina Kim created the hand-silvered invitation and the famed Martha Stewart will present Molly Chappellet and her sister Luanne Wells with the LongHouse Arts Patron Award. The meal will be paired with wines from Napa Valley’s famed Chappellet Vineyards. Molly is a designer, gardener, photographer, chef, entertainer, and author of five books. Luanne is the President of the Wells Family Charitable Foundation and serves as a trustee of the California Institute of the Art.

The SERIOUS MOONLIGHT dress theme of “Night Sky and Silver” will be variously interpreted by a crowd that loves to dress up – with some outfitted by Mary Jane Marcasiano and Nicole Miller. A telescope, courtesy of the Montauk Observatory, will be there for attendees to view the actual moon, and guests will be ushered through a Walking Through Time Tunnel.

Another high point of the evening will be a short premiere of the LongHouse documentary, which is being created by Checkerboard Films, and the crowning introduction of the cool and talented first ever three LongHouse Creative Scholarship winners.

The Summer Benefit Jubilee Auction will include spectacular items from past honorees, including a one-of-a-kind or unique items. The LongHouse Auction is unique, also offering special works from the organizations favored and generous artists who exhibit on the East Hampton grounds.

SERIOUS MOONLIGHT will take place on Saturday, July 23 from 6:00 – 11:00PM.

For tickets please call 631.329.3568, email events@longhouse.org or visit http://www.longhouse.org/collections/tickets/products/serious-moonlight-longhouse-summer-benefit.

The Silent Auction conducted by fine art auction house Paddle8 will go live on July 4 at www.paddle8.com/auctions/longhouse. LongHouse Reserve is located at 133 Hands Creek Road, East Hampton. www.longhouse.org

For additional information please contact Alette Winfield at Alison Mazzola Communications at alette@mazzpr.com or 212.755.2100.

The Center for Conservation • East Hampton, NY

The Nature Conservancy on Long Island will hold its Summer Benefit on Saturday, June 25, 2016. It is our major fund-raising event in support of clean water and conservation on Long Island. We are thrilled to have Ina & Jeffrey Garten as our Honorary Co-Chairs, and Anne & Nicolas Erni and Pam & Peter Flaherty as our Benefit Co-Chairs.

The Nature Conservancy is a global leader in sustainability and conservation. The organization is transforming how we use our oceans, farms, ranches and forests for people and nature. On Long Island, The Nature Conservancy is the leading innovator for sustainable water resources. Our aquifers are polluted with nitrogen from wastewater, and they transport that pollution into our bays and harbors – with devastating impacts on wetlands, seagrass, fish and shellfish. The problem is only expected to get worse unless we take action now.

At our June 25th benefit, we will be raising funds for and awareness about clean water and conservation on Long Island. Revenue raised will be used for innovative water quality projects, such as high-tech water quality monitors for our bays and new wastewater treatment options for homes from East Hampton to Port Washington. In addition, we will leverage your donations by advocating for more public funding.

You can help by purchasing tickets or by making a donation to The Nature Conservancy’s Clean Water Fund. Your support of the Summer Benefit helps the Nature Conservancy protect and manage Long Island’s rich environment, including the wetlands, bays, harbors and forests that we all love.

Chef and cookbook author Ina Garten will serve a specially-prepared Barefoot Contessa Dinner, focusing on regionally and sustainably grown foods. And, to inspire lively conversation and debate, there will be no band or dancing during dinner! It promises to be a lovely summer evening with friends and supporters like you, who are passionate about conservation on Long Island.
