Dear David Paul Appell,
Thank you for inviting me to join tripatini, very useful website for travellers.
Best Regards,

Hi David,
Back again.
Did you want my own website URL? Or Canal NY's? This is me (currently -- I'm in the "website overhaul" process).
Canal New York - I'm a board member and on the Tourism Marketing committee, which is planning the media event later this month. I have a profile on that site.
I've been in touch with Ed and am hoping he can make it. He's sent me a couple of messages.
Sure hope we can meet when you come up for your canal trip/major prize (better than a leg lamp! [obvious allusion to a Christmas Story] ).
Marci
Hi David!
We were talking about you at our planning meeting a couple of weeks ago. Were your ears burning? Your trip is still on!
Are you able to come to the CNY event on the 23rd? I'll be there. I'd love to meet and talk about what would work for you -- I'm sure a couple of others would like that too.
In the meantime, here's a post that Andy Hayes & I put together after Andy came to the Rochester/Finger Lakes area last summer for two weeks, and we spent 3 days on one of Midlakes Navigation's canal hire boats. That experience made each of us life-long Canal life devotees. We still wish we could get back on that boat and tour the canal for weeks.
The eastern portion of the canal system -- east of Syracuse to the Hudson, which includes the Oswego & Champlain canals -- needs some attention (media-wise) because so much is given to the western end with Rochester, Fairport, Pittsford, Spencerport, Brockport (all showplaces of the Erie Canal, more $$ behind them) and on to Lockport (famous for the historic Flight of Five locks and now the giant 54 & 55 locks, plus an affluent village) and then to Buffalo.
But the eastern end is gorgeous and historic, just spread out more. You're up by the Capitol region, Saratoga, Lake Champlain, etc. There are some nice boat tour companies, and I think one (a member of Canal New York) also rents out boats like Midlakes, if that's something you're up for. By car or by boat, it's full of great options.
Let me know what you need and I hope we can meet in NYC. As I told another writer form Queens, we're a very friendly and helpful bunch!

Hello,
Great to get a response to my first blog post today. Let me know if you need more info on the Boat Bed & Breakfasts in North America. We are currently in Fort Pierce getting some work done on the boat and then cruising back to Toronto to open the Boatel on June 1st. Would love to have you visit. Cheers Diane www.boatel.ca
